This course will consist of lecture and hands-on sessions.
The lecture topics will include fundamentals, tissue interaction, and safety with a review of currently available lasers. Clinical cases demonstrating hard and soft tissue procedures with several instruments will be shown, and there will be discussion of the benefits, advantages, and limitations of dental lasers. Questions and interactive discussion will be encouraged.
The hands-on sessions will provide the participants with opportunities to perform a variety of simulated procedures on pig jaws using different lasers. These will include: soft tissue surgery, crown lengthening, adjunctive periodontal therapy, and tissue management for final impressions, as well as hard tissue procedures—tooth preparation and osseous contouring.
