Periodontics 2018: Biology and Science of Current Clinical Therapy featuring Perry R. Klokkevold, DD

When:  Mar 13, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM (PT)
Associated with  Orange County Dental Society

Advances, such as dental implant therapy, have dramatically changed the practice of dentistry. This is especially true for periodontics. The success and predictability of dental implants make them highly desirable. As a result, patient demand continues to rise with patients seeking a natural, esthetic result. However, recent evidence suggests that peri-implant problems are significant. This presentation will describe a practical, biological approach to periodontal therapies for tooth preservation and periodontal regeneration as well as discussing the diagnosis and management of hard and soft tissues in the quest for the ideal implant tooth replacement. Case presentations will be used to illustrate trends, techniques and technologies with a focus on surgical keys from a periodontist’s perspective.

Learning Objectives:

  • To review and understand the important biological aspects of a periodontal diagnosis
  • To appreciate the biological basis for periodontal regeneration
  • To recognize and assess the periodontal esthetic risk factors prior to extraction
  • To illustrate effective treatment methods for tissue management and tooth replacement
