BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
Larry D. Trapp, D.D.S., M.S. is an Associate Professor of Dental Anesthesiology
at the Loma Linda School of Dentistry. He is the founding President of the
American Society of Dentist Anesthesiologists and a member of several organizations
and committees. Dr. Trapp has contributed chapters to several textbooks and
has written numerous articles for Dental Journals and Publications. He gives
several lectures with topics such as "Sedation for Oral surgery", "Clinical
Pharmacology of Sedation for Pediatric Dental Patients", "Fear of Dentistry",
and "Endocrinology and Anesthesiology" to name a few. Dr. Trapp is currently
the Program Director for the Dental Anesthesiology Residency at Loma Linda School
of Dentistry.
COURSE OUTLINE
New California laws directed at
dentists providing preoperative sedation as well as new sedation guidelines
from the American Dental Association have caused some confusion among dental
providers. These new laws and guidelines will be discussed and the reasons
for the changes will be presented. Choices of sedatives will be reviewed and
a safe basis for drug selection and use will be given.
