BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

As an American Heart Association Training Center Director and Educator, Helen McCracken specializes in dental office medical emergencies. Helen has over 30 years of dental hygiene experience in general and periodontal offices. Helen graduated from the University of Southern California Dental Hygiene School and received her Master's degree in Dental Hygiene from Columbia University New York City. Helen received her Basic Life Support (BLS) instructor training at the University of California Irvine Medical Center. Helen teaches BLS for the Healthcare Provider to the dental community throughout southern California. She has presented BLS training for the California Dental Association (CDA), the Nevada Dental Hygienists' Association (NDHA), the American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA), the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), and the American Dental Association (ADA). Helen has written several articles for the Journal of Practical Hygiene on heart disease and the AED. As an experienced dental professional, she brings a unique perspective to dental office medical emergencies and practical answers on how to perform CPR in the dental setting.

COURSE OUTLINE

The American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers Course covers core material such as adult and pediatric CPR (including tworescuer scenarios and use of the bag mask), foreign-body airway obstruction, and automated external defibrillation.
